What To Expect And How To Accept Any General Truck Delivery:
In the interest of customer awareness, please read the following carefully. If you have any
questions, please call 800-241-1895. We want to help you.
Normal freight charges
only include truck-end delivery. In other words, the driver's responsibility is to get it to the end of
the truck, your responsibility is to help him get it down. They do not have to bring your delivery inside. Inside delivery
and lift gate service can be arranged at the time of order, but be aware that they are pricey. Of the two, lift
gate service is the better deal. The driver will lower the load to the ground with a platform and get it to the curb
or driveway as close as he can. At that point you can off-load each box onto a cart.
Our normal freight charges do not include inside delivery, lift gates or call before delivery,
unless arranged at time of order. Truck lines charge heavily for these extra services, our price to you is basic truck-end
service.
We will inform you when your order will be shipping. We will notify you by e-mail or phone (if provided) so
that we can give you the truck line's phone number and pro number (tracking number). Call the truck line and ask for customer
service, give them the pro number and then the truck line will let you know when your delivery will be coming. They can not
give you an exact time, they have many deliveries to make. Be prepared to wait.
These are generally commercial, common
carrier trucks loaded with commercial deliveries. They will usually arrive with large, high, 48 or 53 foot long van trucks.
Have help available if you do not feel up to accepting this type of delivery.
.
Lift
Gate Service Option is available for purchase at a cost of 25.00 on our SHOP ONLINE
Catalog page. Lift Gate Service must be purchased if you do not have a dock door for heavy kiln deliveries. This
concerns most 240 volt kilns and Freedom kilns.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Someone must be present at any truck delivery. Your aged grandmother is not a good choice. The receiving
person must realize the responsibility for the following:
2. Be prepared to
give the driver a hand. They are only responsible for getting it to the end of
the truck unless you have purchased other services such as lift gate. This does not mean that they will not help you, it means
they do not have to help you and we can not make them.
3. Check your delivery-Our
responsibility ends when it is accepted by the carrier.
4. Count your containers
and compare the box count to the bill of lading (shipping receipt). Once the bill of lading is signed, your signature means
that you accept the freight and that everything is correct.
.
5. Inspect your Shipment Before
Signing For It! You have the right to inspect your product, Do not be intimidated by a driver in a hurry. Once you
sign off, you are stating that the shipment is in good order and you are satisfied. They won't even call you back if you
try to file a claim, so do it now.
.
6. If your shipmnet is damaged, refuse the shipment. Call
us immediately if your freight arrives damaged. This is very important. The factory will handle the claim process and re-ship.
.
7.
Concealed Damage. KPS and Olympic Kilns are not responsible for any damage that may occur or come to light after
the shipment is signed off on. We are also not responsible for any repair or replacement or shipping fees after you sign the
bill of lading presented by the trucker when it is delivered. If you do find "concealed damage" you will need to
call the truck line to make a concealed damage claim. If you wait more than two (2) days after it is delivered, your claim
will fail and they won't help and we can't help. PAY ATTENTION: This
is important.

Receiving Your Kiln
Olympic Kilns packs and ships its merchandise so that it
will arrive at its destination undamaged. Olympic orders are FOB origin when they leave our loading dock. This means we hold
the carrier’s receipt that your order left in good condition. We do not allow any deductions from invoices for
damaged ware.
It is the receiver’s (you) responsibility to understand and comply with standard shipping
and receiving practices as described in this section. The carrier is responsible for transporting your freight but not for
unloading it. UPS will deliver smaller shipments to your door. However, for shipments delivered by freight carrier,
a lift gate is required if you do not have a loading dock.
If you do not have a loading dock, a lift gate
for transporting the freight from the truck to ground level is required upon
delivery. You will need to request lift
gate service when ordering your kiln. Otherwise additional freight charges will be incurred upon delivery of freight.
It is your responsibility to move the freight from the truck to its place of use.
If you do not have a loading
dock, a lift gate for kilns on pallets no larger than 6 ft. x 6 ft., is available for transporting the freight from the truck
to ground level.
.
Upon Delivery
You have
the option of refusing delivery if the freight appears to be damaged. Check the count of the items ordered, and note on the
carrier’s delivery receipt any shortages. If any damage appears on outside of package, have the driver inspect the packages
and note on the carrier’s delivery receipt the damage. Immediately after delivery, open all cartons to determine
if there is any concealed damage.
❑ Retain all damaged items with their packaging
❑
Call carrier to report damage and request an inspection within 24 hours. If a call is made later than 36 hours, the carrier
can deny your claim.
❑ Confirm call in writing by registered mail and keep a copy for your
records.
Upon Carrier Inspection
Make sure the
damaged items have not been moved from the receiving area prior to discovery of the damage. Allow the inspector to inspect
damaged items, cartons, inner packing materials and freight bill. Be sure to retain your delivery receipt, it will be required
as supporting documentation when a claim is filed. Once the inspector has filled out the inspection report, read
it carefully and make sure you agree with the report. Unless repairs will be completely satisfactory, be sure the inspector
requests replacement on the inspection report otherwise a new item cannot be ordered to replace what can be repaired.
After Carrier Inspection
Continue to retain damaged
merchandise even though the inspection has been completed. Damaged items cannot be used or disposed of without written permission
from the carrier. Do not return damage items to the shipper without written authorization from the supplier. If damage items
are picked up by the carrier for salvage secure the receipt.
Documents Required for Filing a Freight Claim:
❑ Your carrier’s loss or damage claim form
❑ Shipper’s original invoice
or copy
❑ Original bill of lading
❑ Original paid freight bill
❑
Carrier’s inspection report

It is the customer’s responsibility
(as consignee) to file any claim. Olympic Kilns is willing to assist you in collecting claims but this willingness does
not make us responsible for collection of claims or replacement of materials damaged or lost.
